It’s not uncommon to find our products in urban areas and public spaces—but there usually isn’t quite as much free BBQ to go along with them. That was the scene last Thursday, June 23, 2016, when QCP wowed the Downtown Los Angeles landscape architecture community with a special Qline pop-up event at the historic Grand Central Market.

This invite-only gathering brought many of Downtown Los Angeles’s top landscape architects and firms together to experience the latest Qline products up close and in person, as well as to enjoy complimentary craft brews and hearty grub at the nearby Horse Thief BBQ.

Qline is a comprehensive line of benches, planters, waste containers and bike racks designed by John Cook—celebrated for his work with QCP as well as high-profile brands like BMW and Mini. John was on hand to help tell the story of how Qline has evolved since its launch in 2013. Attendees were captivated by the cantilever Gesture Bench, with its gravity defying stance and stunning polished seating surface. The newly released Transit Bench also made quite an impression with its multiple cast colors and monolithic construction, an industry first.

QCP CEO Rick Crook and regional sales rep Justin Wait were also present to answer questions about production and product specs—and to enjoy the food, festivities and perfect SoCal weather.

“Our Qline products are designed to invite exploration and interaction, so bringing them out in the open in a public setting like the Grand Central Market made perfect sense,” said Rick Crook. “We were proud to welcome John Cook and so many of our friends and partners to enjoy a unique experience with us in Los Angeles.”
